Many of California’s northern rural counties are exceptionally hard hit by the opioid epidemic. Opioid safety coalitions in some of these counties are succesfully using medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help people using high doses of opioids. In this breakout session at the CHCF-sponsored Opioid Safety Convening in Oakland, see 3 representatives of 3 hard-hit counties give specifics on how they have integrated medication-assisted treatment into primary care. Speakers include Dr. Liza Ortiz, Tuolumne County health officer; Kimberley Tangermann, director of Lakeview Health Center in Lake County; and Dr. Mark Satterfield, Plumas County health officer.
